DR Retrofit Solutions in New Jersey

Convert an existing X-ray room to digital across New Jersey, with the radiation safety survey and registration steps the state requires built into the plan.

What DR Retrofit Solutions in New Jersey Include

New Jersey runs one of the stricter X-ray compliance programs in the country, which makes a clean installation matter. DR retrofit solutions in New Jersey convert your film or CR room to a digital detector and handle the survey and registration steps, so the upgrade does not stall at the paperwork.

We serve practices across South and Central New Jersey. Here is what changes when you go digital, what the Bureau of X-Ray Compliance requires, and how we keep the install survey-ready.

A retrofit replaces the capture side of your room with a digital detector and software, and connects it to your PACS or practice system. The generator, tube, and stands stay in place when they are sound, so the upgrade is targeted rather than wholesale, and the film processor is retired. Because New Jersey treats the result as a new installation, we plan the compliance steps alongside the hardware. For the general approach, see how a DR retrofit works.

Why Retrofit Instead of Replacing

Going digital cuts repeats and speeds up a room, and in New Jersey a well-documented install also clears compliance faster. If you are considering a wider change, digital radiography equipment may fit.

Survey-ready install

We calibrate the room so it is ready for the radiation safety survey the state requires, with no second trip.

Fewer repeats

Digital capture and consistent exposures mean fewer retakes and less dose than a drifting film setup.

Clean workflow

Studies flow into your PACS or practice system over DICOM, so nothing sits on a plate waiting to be read.

New Jersey Rules and the Radiation Safety Survey

New Jersey registers machines through the Bureau of X-Ray Compliance, part of the NJDEP Radiation Protection Element. A registrant files a Radiation Producing Machine Registration Form within 30 days of installation. A retrofit counts as a new installation, and the state requires a radiation safety survey for each installation, performed by a qualified surveyor, before the registration is validated. We calibrate the system and get the room survey-ready, while the survey itself is carried out by a licensed medical physicist as a separate step. New Jersey also requires a quality assurance program for diagnostic X-ray, and we keep the system serviced in step with it.

In practice

An urgent care in Cherry Hill switched from CR to a digital detector between a Saturday close and a Monday open. We completed the fit and calibration, then lined up the timing so the physicist survey and the registration fell into place without extra closed days.

Our Retrofit Process

1

Assessment

We review the room, generator, and tube, and size the detector to your patient load.

2

Detector and software

You get equipment chosen for your work, not tied to one manufacturer.

3

Install and calibrate

We fit the detector and calibrate exposures so the room is ready for its survey.

4

Connect

We link the system to your PACS or practice software over DICOM, with a bridge where needed.

5

Survey-ready hand over

We coordinate the survey timing and give you the records the Bureau needs to validate your registration.

Questions Maryland Practices Ask

01. Does a DR retrofit in New Jersey need a radiation safety survey?
Yes. New Jersey treats a retrofitted room as a new installation and will not validate the registration until a radiation safety survey has been received. We get the system calibrated and ready, and a licensed medical physicist performs the survey.
02. Do you perform the survey, or a physicist?
A qualified medical physicist performs the radiation safety survey. Our job is the retrofit and calibration, so the room passes cleanly, and we coordinate the timing so the two steps do not add closed days.
03. How long is the room out of use?
The fit and calibration are usually a day. We plan the survey and registration around your schedule so the room reopens as soon as the paperwork clears.
04. Do you cover North Jersey?
We focus on South and Central New Jersey. Share your location and we will tell you whether we reach you.
